Hi Hernan, how?s life with you at the moment?
Life is great. Travelling and playing around the world as usual, and launching my new Sequential CD on Renaissance.

You?re coming back to The Gallery on the 19th May to play alongside Fergie and Sister Bliss, what makes clubs in the UK and Turnmills worthy of the huge travelling that you have to do in order to get here?
I'm now based in Barcelona so the travel is not bad really, but I used to live in Argentina and still those long 13 hr flights were worth all the way. UK is the leading country regarding dance music and its always great to play there.

For those who may never have had the pleasure what can we expect from you on May 19th?
Well I'm an eclectic DJ and like to play different styles all together. It can be house, tech, prog, anything really, as long as I think is good and interesting, I play it!! I like groove over energy so not really into hard stuff

Do you find differences between countries and continents as a DJ in terms of clubbers, clubs and music when you are on your travels?
Yes, there are differences, but I'm always trying to push the idea of a global scene rather that taking those difference as a limit. Third world country?s are the ones with most enthusiasm because dance music is a newer thing. Then in places like UK, Germany, France, they seem to have done everything already and they are harder to excite. At the same time they have better knowledge about music so that makes a good challenge for the DJ.

You?ve rocketed up the DJ mag Top 100 chart and become a massive name on the DJ circuit how did it all begin for you and what advice would you give those new DJs out there?
I was playing in Argentina when Paul Oakenfold came to play and he liked the way I warmed up for him. Then he offered me to open his shows worldwide for a year and after that he suggested me to move to UK. I was signed to Perfecto and started my international career. In 2001 Cream offered me both residencies at Liverpool and Ibiza. Since then been non stop travelling the world 24/7.

Advices?
Be true to yourself and the sounds you like. Good is not enough, try harder.

What?s been your highlight of the year so far then and what plans have you got for the future?
This year started in Serbia and was fantastic. Then toured South America, Mexico and the US for 2 months and now I'm doing the European season till end of October. Really good gigs so far so its hard to choose one but I would say that Macedonia and Beirut were excellent. Soon a tour in Asia and Australia and then summer starts so will do lots of Ibiza, Greece and the festivals.

You?ve just mixed the new Renaissance compilation with loads of exclusive reedits and remixes, what was the thinking behind it and when can we expect to see it out in the shops?Every time I do a compilation I try to reflect who I am as a DJ. Having said that, this compilation is a good example of the variety of styles I like to play and the way I like to do it. CD1 is more deep and house because that is the way I do the first half of my sets and CD2 is more upbeat like the peak-time in a club. Should be out May 8 in the UK.

You are down to play at some of the biggest festivals this summer, which ones do you especially look forward to playing at?
Dance Valley in Amsterdam is one of the best in Europe. Also looking forward to Exit in Serbia.

For you, which DJs do you really feel are coming through and could well be the next big thing?
Martin Garcia from Argentina.
