MIRA! Entrevista con Carl Cox, y el tipo de musica que el mismo dice poner a veces....

Dallas Music Guide: What's the idea or vibe behind your new mix CD "Global"?
Carl Cox: The idea, really, is to represent my next stage of what I'm about. The music that seems to be getting the most attention right now, especially in the U.S. seems to be progressive and trance music. I've always played this style of music and have always been able to pull crowds in and give them a good time by the music from a worldwide perspective, hence the name "Global". I'm also trying to showcase a few of my own tracks on this album!

DMG: You mentioned that you do "Progressive" and "Trance" music. Does it bother you having to put a label on it for those that feel the need to categorize the style of dance music that you do?
CC: It does, yeah. There comes a point where people will only dance to a genre of music if it suits their credibility. Like, "I listen to Sasha and Digweed, so therefore I listen to trance and it makes me cool." It's terrible because there's so many great records out there with different types of music that needs attention and respect for what it is and it gets side-shifted. For myself, I go to put on a trance record, but there's some great house, techno, and other records and I try to encompass everything out there which represents the club scene as I know it. Whenever someone comes to hear my set, they don't know what they're gonna get. I don't even know what the hell I'm gonna play. I see the crowd and I think, "You know, I think this record's gonna work." Hopefully people will enjoy it for what it is. At the end of the day, I'm not trying to purvey a scene I'm just trying to represent what I'm about and play good music.

En que quedamos, pone trance?
