Crystal Clouds Fans & Friends,

It is with great pleasure that Crystal Clouds announces it's 2008 DJ Contest in collaboration with Recoverworld - after what seems like an eternity since the last one.

Originally this years DJ Contest was going to feature Harder Trance only, however due to the popularity of last years diverse "All Genres" competition, Crystal Clouds have decided to bring another such one again this year.

All Genres means exactly what it says! Crystal Clouds is open to all Electronic Dance Music genres for this competition and the judges will
not discredit anyone for picking a particular genre - so long as it is executed well and in the correct manner.

As always, Crystal Clouds applies a strict policy on the use of particular tracks in any mixes entered.

To give all DJs a fair and equal chance, the rules state that only Legitimate Released Material can be used in the creation
of any of these mixes. Exceptions to this include Bootlegs/Mashups whereby these can be created ONLY by the entrant themselves, from
material which is released in one form or another. Free Producer Giveaways are also considered to be legitimate so long as the DJ can prove this is the case.

Public Pay for Promo-Lists are acceptable in terms of "legitimate material" due to the fact that these are widely accepted sources of music for many DJs at present. Other types of Promo-List are strictly not allowed.

Crystal Clouds reserves the right to remove entries based on material used if it is not believed the material obides by the rules. Crystal Clouds also reserves the right, to stop entries at their sole discretion.

The mixes themselves must be between 55 and 60 minutes in duration and must not fall outside these boundaries.

The mixes must also be recorded and saved at 192kbps CBR (MP3).

Failure to comply to either of these can cause removal from the contest.

Rules Summary

Legitimate Released / Paid Promo / Personal Mashup/Bootleg (Of Material Deemed Legitimate By The Previous conditions) Productions Only.
Mixes must be between 55 and 60 minutes long saved at 192kbps CBR (MP3).
All Electronic Dance Genres are allowed.
The Final Upload Deadline is the 30th April 2008.
Mix Types Are Unrestricted (Megamixes etc Are Allowed)
One Entry per DJ or DJ Team. DJs can not enter as part of a DJ Team and a solo DJ as well.
Crystal Clouds Resident DJs can not enter this contest, however guests in the past are allowed.

Uploading and Submitting Your Mix

The mix must be uploaded before the deadline to a free sharing service such as SpeedyShare or RapidShare. Suggestions
for these types of sites are given in the related links section of this article. Please be aware that if you were to upload
to another service that for some reason we cannot access you will be required to upload elsewhere otherwise the entry cannot
be included in the competition - unless it is due to an error with the network on the Crystal Clouds end.

Once uploaded, email djcontest2008@crystalclouds.com with the following information:

DJ Alias
Real Name
Email Address
Country of Origin
Equipment Used (Hardware, Software, ETC used to create the mix)
Full Playlist of the mix being sent in (if the tracklist is not full, we cannot accept the mix)
Link to download the mix

For those who wish to, feel free to write a description of the mix or yourself to give Crystal Clouds a better idea of who you
are and what you are trying to achieve.

The Contest Process

As opposed to how the 2007 contest was conducted, this year Crystal Clouds will not be holding a public vote until after a group of finalists is chosen.

This means that any entries made to the contest will initially be reviewed by a select panel of Crystal Clouds administrators and DJs alike.
After careful consideration the Crystal Clouds panel will then choose a certain amount (depending on the number of total entries) of finalists to be put forward for the public to download and vote on and thus decide who they want the finalist of the contest to be.

The idea behind this is that it enables Crystal Clouds to narrow the entries down to the ones that are technically the best and then let
the public vote on them, rather than the other way - where in the past problems have occured with cheating.

The Crystal Clouds panel will be judging the mixes using a points system based on the following (where a higher score is better):

1. Mixing Technique (1-10)
2. Music Selection (1-10)
3. Track Placement (1-10)
4. Overall Flow (1-10)
5. Re-playability Factor (1-5)
6. Atmosphere Acheived (1-5)
7. Originality (1-5)

(Total Pts Available: 55)

This judgment stage will finish on the 14th of May 2008. The public vote will start 2 days later on the 16th of May 2008 and will end on the 7th of June 2008. The overall winners will then be announced and prizes issued as required shortly after.

Prizes

2 Month Promo Subscription With Recoverworld
Crystal Clouds Special 5th Birthday Radio Event Slot (Station TBA)
Residency to Crystal Clouds
Various Guestmix Slots With Crystal Clouds Affiliated DJs / Shows

Afterword

If you wish to find out more about the Crystal Clouds 2008 "All Genre's" DJ Contest, feel free to email djcontest2008@crystalclouds.com!

All entries that are made to the contest will receive a reply from Crystal Clouds to verify the entry has been received only. Thus if you receive no
reply within 48 hours, please contact Crystal Clouds again to make sure your email has been received.

The 2008 "Fuzzy" approach whereby no specific number of finalists is given and no judges are announced is designed to make the contest
fair for any amount of entries received and keep judges from receiving some "outside" influence. This way, Crystal Clouds could receive 100 total entries and announce that 10 of these can be finalists, as opposed to having a fixed value like 5 finalists.

No papa, dice esto:

Originally this years DJ Contest was going to feature Harder Trance only, however due to the popularity of last years diverse "All Genres" competition, Crystal Clouds have decided to bring another such one again this year.

All Genres means exactly what it says! Crystal Clouds is open to all Electronic Dance Music genres for this competition...
