-Para empezar, danos un poco de información acerca de sus antecedentes? ¿Qué Qué hacías antes de empezar su carrera musical?

Tuve solamente una carrera antes de hacerme DJ - como minero. Como carrera era bastante buena – emocionante, peligrosa, sin igual. Cada día era distinto, a veces fácil otras veces complicada, cosas que salieron bien y otras no. Es difícil explicar la sensación de laburar a 900m bajo tierra y la verdad lo disfruté muchísimo. Lo hice por 11 anos en total pero durante los últimos años del laburo iba a muchas fiestas y tocaba como DJ – me di cuenta que a mí me gustaba más tocar que laburar como minero – finalmente me renuncié, me mudé a Londres y empecé mi carrera como DJ/productor.

-¿Qué nos podes decir de tu reciente aparición en Magic sobremonte y que pensás de la escena argentina desde tu ultima visita?


Sobremonte fue fenomenal. Me encanta tocar ahí como escenario es buenísimo, y me dio mucha alegría ver a tanta gente conocida de Buenos Aires. Entiendo que es un viaje bastante largo a Mar del Plata y aprecio mucho el esfuerzo de la gente llegar hasta ahí. No creo que haya cambiado mucho desde mi última visita – la escena argentina todavía sigue meciendo dura!

- Tenés una enorme experiencia en pistas alrededor del mundo ¿si tuvieras que comparar a argentina con alguna otra escena del mundo con cual la compararías ?

Ay, qué pregunta difícil…! Bueno, cada país tiene su cultura, su estilo de vida y esto se ve en la cultura nocturna también. Argentina me acuerda de Londres al fin de los ’90 – viviéndola a full!

-Si tuviéras que poner etiquetar ¿con que estilos musicales te sentis mas identificado?


Me identifico mucho con el trance, el tecno-trance, el trance ‘underground’ hasta un poquito de psy trance…cualquier cosa siempre y cuando contenga la palabra ‘trance’! A mí me gusta especialmente el lado mas oscuro de las cosas y prefiero mantener una mentalidad abierta sobre lo que siga– si puedo mezclar estilos distintos adentro de un ‘set’ y irme de rositas, lo hago!

-¿Por donde pasa tu selección música a la hora de mesclar ?

Un Pioneer – siempre - no hay otro mixer o deck igual.

-¿Seguís encontrando tracks innovadores o crees que todo ya esta inventado ?

Sí, hay un montón de temas innovadores - las técnicas de producción cambian y desarrollan todo el tiempo, hay muchas ideas y sonidos frescos por ahí pero hay que buscarlos.

- Festivales o clubs? ¿Cuáles son las ventajas y desventajas de estos lugares?

Me encanta tocar las festivales pero porque se arman y se desarman tan rápidas esto significa que muchas veces ni la calidad del sonido ni los monitores están tan afinados como en los boliches.

Por otro lado es buenísimo tocar en boliches porque el palco del DJ se diseña para el conforto y la eficiencia. Hoy solamente un problema con ellos y es que no se puede ver la salida del sol!

Hay tantos, demasiados - sería imposible mencionar todos. Me siento afortunado haber sido involucrado en tantas noches increíbles…

-¿que consejos le darias a los chicos que recien inician en el mundo de la musica electronica o a quienes inician en su carrera de dj ?

Manténganse concentrados/enfocados, hagan eso en lo que crean , trabajen mucho y sigan por adelante!

- Muchas gracias por tu tiempo, para terminar contanos cuales son tus planes futuros ,vas a volver a argentina pronto ?

Actualmente estoy bastante ocupado en el estudio – estoy trabajando en un proyecto para hacer un álbum que se llama Music for Life que va a salir al público en los primeros meses de 2013 por la etiqueta Recover. Va a estar disponible como una descarga digital – el paquete va a contener un mix en vivo de los mejores de mis discos con unas salidas actuales, y todos los temas también van a estar disponibles apartes, junto con unos temas nuevos y algunos temas extras del pasado, todo regrabado digitalmente para los dancefloors de hoy en día – suenan buenísimos!

También tengo mucho mas temas que ya van a salir al mercado – me parece que el año que viene voy a tener muchísimo trabajo que hacer!

Y espero volver a la Argentina en el año 2013 – estoy contando los días que faltan…

-Queres comunicarle algo a tus seguidores argentinos ?

To start with, can you tell us a little about your previous jobs - what were you doing before you started out on your career in music?

I only ever had one career- I was a coal miner. As a career it was quite good- exciting, dangerous, unique- every day was different, sometimes easy, sometimes hard, things went right and things went wrong. It's hard to describe the feeling of working 900m below ground, I actually quite enjoyed it- I did it for 11 years, but for the last few years I was going to parties and DJ'ing, and my love of music was greater than my love of mining, so eventually I quit, moved to London and started my own career as a DJ/producer.

What can you tell us about your recent appearance at Magic Sobremonte and how do you see the Argentine scene since your last visit?



Sobremonte was great! I love playing there, it's a great venue, and it was really nice to see so many familiar faces from BA. I know it's a long way to travel, and i really do appreciate the effort that people made.

I don't think much has changed since my last visit- the Argentine club scene is still rocking hard!

You’ve had a lot of experience playing in different clubs around the world, which scene best compares to the Argentine one?



That's a very difficult question to answer! Every country has a different culture, a different way of life, and this is obviously reflected in the club culture as well. Argentina reminds me most of London in the late 90's- totally going for it !

When it comes to mixing your music, which mixer/equipment do you favour?

Pioneer every time, no other mixer or deck comes close.

Is it still possible to find innovative/groundbreaking tracks or has everything already been invented?


Yes, there are plenty of innovative new tunes around- production techniques are changing and developing all the time, new ideas and fresh sounds are out there, but you have to look for them.

Festivals or clubs: what are their advantages and disadvantages?



I love playing at festivals, but due to the fact that they are set up and dismantled over the space of a few days, it often means that the sound and monitors are not fine tuned like they are in clubs.

Clubs, on the other hand, are great to play, as the DJ booth has been designed for comfort and efficiency- the only problem with clubs is that you cant see the sun coming up!

If you had to name an event at which you played and that was especially memorable for you which one comes to mind?



Too many to mention- way too many! I consider myself blessed to have been involved with so many amazing nights

What advice would you give to young people who have recently started out in the electronic music field and/or have just begun their DJing careers?



Stay focused, do what you beleive in, work hard and keep going.

Right now i'm very busy in the studio- I'm working on an album project called 'Music For Life' which will be released on the Recover label early in 2013; It will be available as a digital download- the package will contain a live mix of the best of my previous releases, along with recent releases, also all of the tracks will be available seperately, along with some brand new tunes, and some 'bonus' oldies- everything has been digitally remastered for todays dancefloors, and it sounds great !

I also have lots more new tunes almost ready for release, so it looks like 2013 will see me being very busy indeed

I hope to be back in Argentina in 2013, looking forward to it already!
